This volume contains letters written by the Governor-in-chief of the British West Africa Settlements to the Secretary of State for the Colonies, between 11 December 1885 and 17 February 1887. It includes an index that lists the subject of the despatch and the page number in the volume. For each despatch the document includes the place where it was written, the date, the name of the recipient, the signature of the sender, and the number of the despatch. It also includes the subject of the letter. The volume is bound in red cloth boards. There are some traces of mould around the binding, and slight traces of water damage in the volume.
