The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate in the Police Office at Freetown between 31 December 1846 and 18 September 1847. The volume includes information on the date of the case, the name of the Police Magistrate who heard the case, the name of the person charged, the offence, and whether the defendant confessed to the crime. It also includes reference to whether the case was dismissed, or the sentence given. The records of cases sometimes include the accounts of the plaintiff and defendant, of the Police Constable and of some witnesses. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive damage from iron gall.
