The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 24 April and 3 August 1894. It includes an index that lists the cases by name of the defendant, and gives the offence, the sentence and the page number in the volume. For each case, the document includes the name of the Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant. Information is also provided about the nature and date of the offence, and sometimes includes the plaintiff and defendant’s statements, as well as some witness statements. Information is also included about whether the defendant pleaded guilty, and the sentence given. The spine and the cover are damaged.
