The volume contains information on cases brought before the Acting Assistant Police Magistrate in the Police Court at Freetown between 10 May and 8 August 1862. The volume contains an index that lists the cases by name of defendant and includes the page number, and the offence. The reporting of cases includes information on the date, the names of the plaintiff and the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. Reference is included to the oaths of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and of witnesses. Information is provided about sentencing. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive damage from iron gall.
