The volume contains cases before the Assistant Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 1 July and 29 August 1861. The volume contains an index that lists the cases by name of defendant and includes the page number, the offence and how it was dealt with. The recording of cases includes information on the date of the case, the names of the plaintiff and of the defendant, and a short title relating to the case. It also includes information on the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, and witnesses. Reference is also included on sentencing. Half of the volume has not been digitised. It is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive water damage, as well as damage from iron gall. The paper in the volume is brittle.
