A part of the second bundle of a bilingual translation and commentary on Pārājika aṭṭhakathā covering the commentary on the second and third pārājika. This work composed by Burmese monk Jambudhaja was the most common nissaya of canonical Vinaya and Samantapāsādikā transmitted in Burma from the mid-seventeenth to the early twentieth centuries. However, the text of that work has not been critically established due to the presence of multiple versions of Vinaya nissaya compiled by different authors, all circulated with the same title. Very little reliable information on Jambudhaja is available except that he resided in a key secondary city of Upper Burma and was a recipient of a royally-bestowed monastic title. Extent and format of original material: A fragmentary bundle of 181 inscribed folios. Physical characteristics: Incomplete, up to 62 folios (ṅi to cāʺ, chā to chī, chū to chaṃ, jai to joʻ, jhī to jhe, jhoʻ to ñña, ṭhoʻ, ṭhāʺ, ḍa, ḍaṃ, tu to taṃ, tha to the, di, and nā) are missing. 65 folios (kā to khaṃ, gha to ghi, ghe to ṅā, chāʺ, jā to [je], jaṃ, jāʺ, ññai to ṭī, ṭū, ṭe, ṭho, ḍi to ḍu, ḍha, ḍhā, ḍhu, ḍhū, ḍhe, ḍhoʻ, ṇā to ṇū, ṇaṃ, ṇāʺ, [tī], da, doʻ, daṃ, dhu, dhū, and naṃ) have fragments missing, gnawed by rats. Of 3 ff. [chu], tāʺ, and [na] only fragments survive, right side of f. ja missing; f. jāʺ broken in 3 parts, f. jha broken into 2 parts. 11 ff.
