A work belonging to a genre of scriptural catalogs (pitakat thamaing). The latter were a technical genre of Burmese literature that defined the texts that the royal court and other pious patrons of the sāsana were supposed to transmit and maintain. This particular Piṭakatʻ sa muiṅʻʺ represents one of the multiple versions of a catalog put together in c. 1681 by Sīrisaddhammaghosa mahādhammarājaguru (d. ? 1684) . At the current stage of research, it is impossible to clarify the relationship between these versions, e.g. determine if all of them represent the work of Sīrisaddhammaghosa and result from editorial or scribal alterations such as selective recopying of sections of the original text or, alternatively, represent initally independent works or parts of such works that were collated together to form a new text. The variant found in this particular manuscript lists approximately 227 texts organized into 162 mss bundles of which 57 are authenticated by recitals and 170 compiled by different learned authors. This is supplemented by another systematic list of piṭakat titles divided into six major subjects that adds further 4 textual units to the list of 227. Extent and format of original material: 1 fascicule of 14 inscribed and 1 uninscribed folios.
