Conch shell chest ornament: Tonka (Wylie thong ga) ཐོང་ག Mid 19th century

A conch shell waistcoat, made up of four pieces of carved conch shell,one different from the other two 80 x 85 square, and two 70 x 75 mm the centre of each marked. Two woth small silver buttons, one with a coin and one with a silver chain, joined together with thread and string. One conch shell chest ornament.

The material is owned by Meme Padma Tandup. The older material has been handed down, the newer material has been purchased in the last fifteen years. All the materials in the archive are kept within the prayer room of the house. This was not seen: materials were brought out into the living room to be surveyed and documented.
