Nägärä Maryam - The Story of Mary [1360-1399]

Manuscript is generally in bad condition. The bookblock - the parchment folios are very deformed and dirty. The edges of all folios are brownish and brittle, mainly as an effect of high air temperature. The glass-like layer, as an effect of gelatinization process of the parchment, can also be observed. There are losses of the parchment in most folios especially in the lower corners. These losses caused by inundation and microbiological infection are very extensive in a further part of the book. There are also large brown water stains and blurred text. The sewing of the book was very weak and was repaired by stab-stitching along the edges of the inner margins of all quires, additionally protected by strips of new parchment. The binding - bare wooden boards, partly damaged by rodents.
