San Juan (Rep. Arg.) [1930s-1960s]

Description: The main subject of this envelope is the arrival of railways in San Juan. The building of the railways The Central Argentine Railways in 1867 intended to comunnicate the provinces of Córdoba, San Luis, Mendoza, and San Juan. This railway continued to grow and in 1885 arrived in San Juan. Two years later the national government sold the railways to the British enterprise Railway from Buenos Aires to the Pacific. Extent and format of original material: This envelope contains photos, newspapers' and magazines' clippings, a small book titled San Juan en la Revolución de Mayo (San Juan in the May Revolution), documents compiled by the Proffesor Ignacio Delgado, and published under the auspice of the provincial government in 1923.
