Universidad Popular [1920s-1940s]

Description: In Argentina, the Universidades Populares were universities that promoted educated for the lower-class sectors. Most of them were created by well-known Universities, development centers founded by the immigrants, or, by neighbourhoods such as La Boca. The goal was to teach theoretical and practical knowledge. The initiative that came from the universities followed the 1918 Reform organized by students driven by the conviction that students and workers should work together for the good of the country. Extent and format of original material: This envelope contains three sub-envelope. The material consists of a small book titled Four Word about the Universidad Popular, Buenos Aires, 1939; a small bokk of the Universidad Popular de la Boca, a memoir, a balance, a page with the lettlerhead of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (or National University of Córdoba) with a typewritten letter to Don José María Longo from de General Secretary of the National University of Córdoba, and a leaflet belonging to the Unión Universitaria or University Union.
