Maiz Semana del maiz [1920s-1940s]

Description: Corn and whear were the causes of the agricultural revolution in Argentina from 1880s to 1910s. The cultivation of corn and wheat transformed the country into one of the main world producers of crops. The cattle industry gave way to two vegetables: wheat and corn and they consolidated the agricultural activities in the country and reaffirmed the agro-export model fostered by the political elite of the 1860s onwards. The Feast of Corn was and is part of this central role of corn in Argentine production and to-day the Latin American celebration of Corn takes place in the province of Mendoza.
