Mäshäfä Yeshaq - The Book of Isaac [16th century]

MS NO. 48 104f. Book of Isaac The bookblock- folios strongly deformed and dusty on all surface, but especially on all margins. Additionally, the margins of all folios are yellowish and very brittle, mainly as an effect of high air temperature. The glass-like layer, as an effect of gelatinization process of the parchment, can also be observed. A large water-stains mainly in the outer margins are visible. Some repairs of the folios can be observed, especially in folds of the quires. The sewing of the book is very weak. The binding- There is a lack of the leather on the spine and on the surface of covers, near the back of the book. Some smaller losses on the corners and edges of the boards are visible. The back wooden board is broken in the middle. It caused next damages of the covering leather. The leather is dusty and its surface is scratched and partly worn away.
