Description: This volume contains details of cases heard in the Magistrates Court for the Mountain District of Sierra Leone. The cases dealt with before the court relate to a variety of offences, including theft, fighting and the failure to fence lots of land. The name of the magistrate is recorded, and information is provided on the names of the defendants as well as individuals connected to the case in various ways. Testimony from constables and other witnesses is recorded for different cases. This volume provides on important source of information on Liberated Africans in the colony, particularly those settled in Wilberforce and other outlying villages. The paper shows water damage on the edges, and there is also damage from iron gall ink.
