Description: This envelope contains four envelopes and loose material comprising photographs, newspapers’ and magazines’ clippings and articles, engravings, one bibliographic reference, and a typewritten document on José Evaristo Uriburu (1831-1914). He was the son of colonel Evaristo Uriburu, governor of the province of Salta. He was vice-president of Luis Roque Saenz Peña and after his resignation he became president of Argentina from 1895 to 1898. He was a well-known diplomat who helped in the arbitration of peace between Chile and Peru and Bolivia during the War of the Pacific (1879-1883). This envelope contains facts, photos, portraits and caricatures when Uriburu became president of Argentina. It also contains the monuments erected in his honour, and the photos and articles of his wedding and married life with Leonor Tezano Pinto, his second wife. Extent of original: Handmade envelope .
