Uriburu José Félix Entierro Militar [1930s]

Description: This envelope contains photographs, newspapers’ and magazines’ clippings and articles, and one drawing on Uriburu. He was the military dictator that became president of Argentina in 1930 through a coup d’état to Hipólito Yrigoyen’s government. He had previously supported another attempt against the government of president Miguel Juárez Celman in 1890 causing the latter’s resignation. Uriburu belonged to a wealthy and well-known family in Salta and wanted to impose a conservative and fascist government in opposition to Roque Sáenz Peña’s democratic project of the secret and universal male suffrage.
