Saravia Aparicio [1900s-1960s]

Description: This is a handmade envelope with clippings and articles from magazines and newspapers about Aparicio Saravia da Rosa (1856-1904). He was a politician, military, and caudillo of the Partido Nacional (or Nacional Party) in Uruguay. Son of Brazilian parents who owned a big landscape, he participated in the politics of both countries. He was a general in the Federal Revolution in Rio Grande. In Uruguay, he became the last famous leader of the National Party leading the revolution against the government in 1903 only to die a year later. He defended constitutional governments and, due to his military leadership, he managed to impose this idea on his opponents.
