Description: This envelope informs us about the Colonia Sarmiento, now Sarmiento, a locality in the southern region of the province of Chubut. It lies in a valley close to Comodoro Rivadavia—one of the two main cities in the Argentine Patagonia. The valley was previously inhabited by indigenous populations such as the mapuches and tehuelches. Then, a Welsh colony established and it was followed by the arrival of other immigrants who bred cattle, cultivated fruits and vegetables, and specialised in the production of milk, yogurt, and cheese.
