The work is a poetic composition praising St. Mary, meant for both church services and private devotion (created in the 15th or 16th century, s. Encyclopaedia Aethiopica III, 660-61). The manuscript contains the Mahletä Segge, and a fragment of another Marian prayer at the end written by a different hand (folios 47r-49v).
