Mälke'a-hymns have been composed starting at least from the first half of the 17th century. They are used in the church service and for the private devotion. The manuscript contains mälke'a-hymns devoted to St. Mary and several saints. The book was owned by a certain Täklä Haymanot (?; s. fol. 47rb).
