The lectionary contains references (titles, incipits) to church texts to be read during the services. The Mäshafä Asläti is one of several types of lectionaries (generically called Mäshafä Gessawe) used in the Ethiopian church (s. Encyclopaedia Aethiopica II, 773-75). The manuscript contains the Mäshafä Asläti and crude recent drawings.
