Hakku Patra of Thoorpati Beeramallu [1880]

Contributor / Caste / Performance: Ogguvaru. Medium of original material: copper plate. Description of material: The copper plate inscription mentions the names of villages assigned to Ogguvaru. Ogguvaru, a sub-caste of Golla / Yadava narrate the epics of Mallanna and Ellamma by beating a drum (Dolu) and playing taala. It is their profession. They have the right to tour all assigned villages with the team. Each team consisting of ten to twenty performers. On the eve of festivals they also perform Pooja (worship).
