Miscellaneous Photographs. This set consists of 23 frames containing a total of 37 black-and-white photographs, in various formats and sizes. Some frames contain a single photograph, while others hold up to five. The images were taken in different areas of the building of the Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia, covering a time range from 1912, the oldest, to the early 1950s. Some copies are original from the period, while others are later reproductions. Additionally, there is one loose, unframed photograph. The photographs document both the building of the institution and the various activities that took place inside. They also include portraits of the women founders of the Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia, such as Josefina Gana de Johnson and Emiliana Subercaseaux de Concha, as well as key figures like Mother María Luisa Villalón, who supported the institution’s foundation, and María de la Luz Ossa de Roos, who was the director. The set also contains two portraits of ecclesiastical figures: one of José María Caro Rodríguez, the eighth Archbishop of Santiago, Chile, and another of Pope Pius X. It is worth noting that some portraits are repeated, appearing framed in different frames.
Misceláneo de Fotografías. Este conjunto está compuesto por 23 marcos que contienen un total de 37 fotografías en blanco y negro, de diversos formatos y dimensiones. Algunos marcos incluyen una sola fotografía, mientras que otros albergan hasta cinco. Las imágenes fueron tomadas en diferentes recintos del edificio de la Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia, cubriendo un rango temporal desde 1912, la más antigua, hasta principios de la década de 1950. Algunas copias son originales de la época, mientras que otras son reproducciones realizadas posteriormente. Además, se incluye una fotografía suelta, sin enmarcar. Las fotografías documentan tanto el edificio de la institución como las diversas actividades que se realizaban en su interior. También incluyen retratos de las mujeres fundadoras de la Sociedad Protectora de la Infancia, como Josefina Gana de Johnson y Emiliana Subercaseaux de Concha, así como de figuras clave como la Madre María Luisa Villalón, quien apoyó la fundación de la institución, y María de la Luz Ossa de Roos, quien fue directora. Condition of original material: Some photographs mounted on wooden plates exhibit material deterioration, where the photographic paper has detached or suffered losses, exposing the underlying wood. This suggests that the damage occurred before they were framed and protected with glass, as they are currently preserved. Additionally, some photographs show signs of fading due to prolonged exposure to light, which has caused the gradual loss of their grayscale tones over time.
