The 'Cachiporra' is a satirical newspaper that explicitly declares itself an opponent of the Constitutional Party and, therefore, of the Morales Bermúdez government. In the prose and verse texts accompanying the caricature, it accuses the army, led by Avelino Cáceres, of having imposed Morales Bermúdez through the repression of Piérola, the more popular candidate in the 1890 elections. La Cachiporra also criticises the newspaper 'El Chispazo' and, in particular, its editor Juan de Arona (Pedro Paz Soldán y Unanue), who is accused of defending members of the Constitutional Party.
"La Cachiporra" es un periódico satírico que se declara explícitamente como opositor al Partido Constitucional y, por tanto, al gobierno de Morales Bermúdez. En los textos en prosa y verso que complementan la caricatura, acusan al ejército, liderado por Avelino Cáceres, de haber impuesto a Morales Bermúdez por medio de la represión a Piérola, candidato más popular durante las elecciones de 1890. "La Cachiporra" también critica al periódico "El Chispazo" y, con especial énfasis, a su director Juan de Arona (Pedro Paz Soldán y Unanue), quien es acusado de defender a los miembros del Partido Constitucional.
