The 'Rebenque' is a satirical newspaper published a few months before the invasion of Bolivia led by President Agustín Gamarra. Additionally, the newspaper vehemently discusses an apparent case of censorship against the newly established newspaper "El Comercio" for investigating a Peruvian ambassador, Mr. Tudela.

El contenido del periódico muestra el resentimiento que aún se mantiene contra Santa Cruz y su proyecto confederado. El peligro de guerra contra Bolivia es recurrente en los números del periódico; se entiende que, mientras siga Santa Cruz en el gobierno boliviano, la autonomía del Perú corre peligro. Además, se discute con vehemencia un caso de aparente censura al recién creado diario "El Comercio" por investigar a un embajador peruano, el Sr. Tudela.
