Monos y Monadas' is a satirical weekly founded by the poet and playwright Leonidas Yerovi, with Julio Málaga Grenet as artistic director. The magazine features short satirical verses, chronicles, poems, costumbrista stories, tales, fragments of plays, and critical or parodic texts accompanied by humour and abundant colour caricatures. It also includes advertisements for a variety of goods and services, often presented as verses, narratives, and drawings prepared by the editors themselves. In 1907, the publication devotes its pages to national and international affairs, although political criticism becomes its most distinctive trait. Málaga produces incisive caricatures targeting José Pardo, Augusto B. Leguía, and the Civil Party, emphasising their elitist and opportunistic practices. The magazine reflects the tense climate leading up to the 1908 presidential elections, portraying Leguía’s rise as predetermined by Pardo. La revista incluye letrillas, crónicas, poemas, relatos costumbristas, cuentos, fragmentos de obras de teatro y textos críticos o paródicos acompañados de humor y abundantes caricaturas a color. También contiene avisos publicitarios de bienes y servicios diversos, presentados en forma de letrillas, narraciones y dibujos elaborados por los propios editores. En 1907 dedica sus páginas a temas nacionales e internacionales, aunque la crítica política se convierte en su rasgo más distintivo. Málaga produce incisivas caricaturas dirigidas contra José Pardo, Augusto B. Leguía y el Partido Civil, subrayando sus actitudes elitistas y oportunistas. La revista refleja el clima tenso previo a las elecciones presidenciales de 1908, presentando el ascenso de Leguía como definido de antemano por Pardo. Ese mismo año, un joven Abraham Valdelomar colabora con caricaturas, en una fase inicial de su trayectoria antes de consolidarse como narrador, poeta y ensayista.
