A satirical newspaper with undertones of radical liberalism. Its content displays pronounced anticlericalism and a strong rejection of militarism, embodied by Andrés Avelino Cáceres and then-President Remigio Morales Bermúdez. The publication focuses its critique on the National Civic Union, a political coalition formed in Congress between the Civil Party and the Parliamentary Circle of former Cáceres ally Mariano Nicolás Valcárcel. The criticism extends further to the Civil Party as a whole, portrayed as inherently corrupt, Nicolás de Piérola´s Democratic Party, and Congressman Francisco Rosas. The editors present themselves as staunch defenders of press freedom and denounce acts of harassment against their right to free expression by the government. The newspaper features texts in prose and verse but does not include illustrations. 1892 (Oct-Dec) Issues: 1-10 (images 005-060); 1893 (Jan-Jun) Issues: 11-19 (images 061-096) and issue 32 (097-104).
