Featuring an old, ugly, and mocking man as its protagonist, 'Don Lunes' is a satirical newspaper known for its abundant use of caricature. Its content is sharply critical of the Partido Civil, as reflected in constant mockery of the Congress—then politically dominated by that party—, attacks against President José Pardo y Barreda, and negative references to other well-known Civilista-aligned newspapers. Furthermore, with the 1919 presidential elections in view, 'Don Lunes' openly supports Augusto B. Leguía, the main opponent of the Partido Civil. Its caricatures are not limited to political satire, they also include illustrations that ridicule the customs of Lima’s upper class and mock well-known public figures.
Con un hombre viejo, feo y burlón como protagonista, "Don Lunes" es un periódico satírico conocido por su abundante uso de la caricatura. Su contenido critica duramente al Partido Civil, como se refleja en constantes burlas al Congreso —entonces dominado políticamente por dicho partido—, ataques contra el presidente José Pardo y Barreda y referencias negativas a otros conocidos periódicos afines al civilismo. Además, con las elecciones presidenciales de 1919 en mente, "Don Lunes" apoya abiertamente a Augusto B. Leguía, el principal opositor del Partido Civil. Sus caricaturas no se limitan a la sátira política, sino que también incluyen ilustraciones que ridiculizan las costumbres de la clase alta limeña y se burlan de figuras públicas reconocidas.
