Actualidades' is a weekly magazine devoted to customs, fashion, and society, directed primarily by the journalist Juan José Reinoso, with occasional editorial contributions from Octavio Espinoza and Andrés Aramburú Salinas. Its content focuses on social and cultural matters of relevance to Lima’s elite, including theatre reviews, reports on European fashion, unpublished fragments of poetry and short fiction, beauty and photography contests, Catholic prayers, and a wide range of miscellaneous subjects. What distinguishes 'Actualidades'—together with other periodicals such as 'Prisma' and 'Variedades'—is its extensive use of illustrations, photographs, paintings, and caricatures. The magazine adopts a satirical tone that, rather than being overtly political, is predominantly social: certain sections are dedicated to ridiculing the customs of Lima’s high society or to lampooning recognisable figures within those circles. In the issues published throughout 1904, particular attention is given to articles on Peru’s diplomatic missions to the United States, the arrival of the electric railway in Lima, the assumption of the presidency by Serapio Calderón, and the national mourning following the death of former president Manuel Candamo. "Actualidades" es una revista semanal de costumbres, moda y sociedad dirigida principalmente por el periodista Juan José Reinoso, aunque también contó con las breves participaciones en la dirección de Octavio Espinoza y Andrés Aramburú Salinas. Su contenido se centró en información social y cultural relevante para la sociedad limeña, lo que incluía reseñas de obras de teatro, novedades en la moda europea, fragmentos inéditos de poesía y breves narraciones, concursos de belleza y fotografía, oraciones católicas, entre otros variados temas. La característica representativa de la revista "Actualidades" - junto con otras como "Prisma" y "Variedades" - fue la gran cantidad de ilustraciones, fotografías, pinturas y caricaturas en sus entregas. La sátira en "Actualidades", más que política, era de corte social: existen secciones dedicadas a burlarse de costumbres de la alta sociedad limeña o de un personaje reconocible entre estos grupos sociales. En los números publicados a lo largo de 1904, se presta especial atención a artículos sobre las misiones diplomáticas del Perú en Estados Unidos, la llegada del ferrocarril eléctrico a Lima, la llegada a la presidencia de Serapio Calderón y el duelo nacional tras la muerte del expresidente Manuel Candamo. Estos temas reflejan el compromiso de "Actualidades" no solo de capturar los ritmos de la vida social limeña, sino también de documentar los acontecimientos políticos y tecnológicos que moldearon la trayectoria del país.
