Two inscriptions are found on the pillar of the sluice of the Vēṅgai-kaṇmāi belongs to the Chittupaṭṭi village. The inscription refers to two individuals namely Ādittaṉ Sundara Kaṇḍan and Rāmaṉ Kāḍaṉ who established this sluice. On the palaeographical ground, the inscription could be dated to the 11th century CE.
