The sluice was erected in the tank called Peruṅkuḍipaṭṭi-Kaṇmāi of Tāyiṉipaṭṭi village located south of the village near Aiyyaṉār temple. The inscription is noticed on the eastern pillar of the sluice. The inscription refers to the installation of the sluice by Tiruchchiṟṟambalam Uḍaiyāṉ. It is dated to 10th century CE.
