Kavinattu Kanmai

This inscription is engraved on the southern sluice of the Periyakuḷam. It is located close to the bank. This tank belongs to Kavināṭṭu village. This sluice was erected by Mūtāṇḍi Peruntiṇai Veṇkaṇ of Kavirppāl of Valla-nāḍu in 7th regnal year of Pāṇḍya king Māṟaṉ Saḍaiyaṉ corresponding to 772 CE. Inscription: sri kōmāṟa/ ṟañ sadaiyarku/ yāṉṭu/ 7āvatu/ vaḷḷanāṭṭu/ kavirppāl/ mūtāṇṭi pe/ runtiṇai/ veṇkaṉ cēvittatu. கவிநாட்டு கண்மாய் பெரியகுளத்து தெற்கு மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குளத்தின் கிழக்குப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள பெரிய மடை என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்ற குமிழி குளத்தின் கரையை ஒட்டியே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் கவிநாட்டு கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை வல்லநாட்டுக் கவிர்ப்பால் மூதாண்டி பெருந்திணை வெண்கண் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. இக்குமுழியை பாண்டிய மன்னன் மாறன் சடையனின் 7ஆம் ஆட்சியாண்டில் (பொ.ஆ.772) அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. கல்வெட்டு: ஸ்ரீ கோமாற/ றஞ் சடையர்கு/ யாண்டு/ 7ஆவது/ வல்லநாட்டு/ கவிர்பால் / மூதாண்டி பெ/ ருந்திணை/ வெண்கன் சேவித்தது.
