Valamangalam

This inscription is found on the pillar of the sluice located on the northern part of the Vāḻamaṅgalam village tank. This sluice was erected by the Aiyāra Nappi. On the palaeographical ground, it could be dated to 10th century CE. Inscription: uḍaiyār/ maḍaippa(ḷ)/ ḷip peṇ/ tāṭṭi aiyyā/ ra nappi cē/ viṭṭa ka/ llu. வாழமங்கலம் பெரிய கண்மாயின் பழைய மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குளத்தின் வடக்குப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள குமிழி குளத்தின் கரையை ஒட்டியே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் வாழமங்கலம் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை ஐயார நப்பி என்பவன் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இது கி.பி.10ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு: உடையார்/ மடைப்ப(ள்)/ ளிப் பெண்/ டாட்டி ஐயா/ ர நப்பி சே/ வித்த க/ ல்லு.
