Vadaseripatti

This inscription is found on the pillar of the sluice located on the northern part of the Vaḍasēripaṭṭi village tank. This sluice was erected by the Nāvalūṟ Maṟavaṉ Ucitavāraṇ-p-pēraiyaṉ. On the palaeographical ground, it could be dated to 10th century CE. Inscription: ……………………../ [itu] nāṭṭuvit/ tāṉ iraṭṭapāṭi/ koṇṭa chō/ ḻa vaḷanāṭṭu nā/ valūr maṟavaṉ pe/ riyāṉ catiraṉāṉa u/ cita vāraṇap pē/ raiyaṉ …. வடசேரிப்பட்டி இம்மணான் கண்மாயின் பழைய மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குளத்தின் வடக்குப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள குமிழி குளத்தின் கரையை ஒட்டியே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் வடசேரிப்பட்டி கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை நாவலூர் மறவன் உசிதவாரணப் பேரையன் என்பவன் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இது கி.பி.11ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு: ………………./ (இ)து நாட்டுவித்/ தான் இரட்டபாடி/ கொண்ட சோ/ ழ வளநாட்டு நா/ வலூர் மறவன் பெ/ ரியான் சதிரனான உ/ சித வாரணப் பே/ ரையன்….
