Ariyur-1

There are three sluices in the Āriyūr tank and all the three are having inscriptions. The inscription under discussion is engraved on the Āriyūr Kīḻakkaṇmāi of the Āriyūr village. This sluice is written in Tamil script and Tamil language and was installed by Porimayaṉ-tāḻi-p-pērayaṉ in memory of his father Porimayaṉ-iḍamari during 14th regnal year of Uttama-chōḻa (984 CE). It refers to the installation of sluice pillar and the sluice kumuḻi. Inscription : svasti sri/uttama/chōḻaṟku/yāṇḍu/14āva/tu ikku/miḻi-p-paṭut/tu..kaṟkā/l nāṭṭu/vittār sri/ pori-ma/yaṉ tā/ḻi-p-pē/raiyaṉē/ṉ sri po/ rimayaṉ/iṭamari/yai-c-cāt/ti-c-cey/tatu sri. ஆரியூர் குளத்தில் மூன்று குமிழிகள் உள்ளன. மூன்று குமுழிகளிலும் கல்வெட்டு காணப்படுகின்றன. தற்போது ஆய்வுக்கு உட்படுத்தப்பட்ட கல்வெட்டு ஆரியூர் கீழ்கண்மாயில் காணப்படும் கல்வெட்டு ஆகும். தமிழ் மொழியில் தமிழ் வரிவடிவத்தில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ள இக்கல்வெட்டு சோழ மன்னன் உத்தமச்சோழனின் பதினான்காவது ஆட்சியாண்டில் பொரிமயன் தாழிப்பேரயன் என்பவன் தனது தந்தை பொரிமயன் இடைமரி நினைவாக குமுழியும், கற்காலும் நாட்டியதை குறிப்பிடுகிறது. கல்வெட்டு: ஸ்வஸ்திஸ்ரீ/உத்தம/சோழற்கு/யாண்டு/14ஆவ/து இக்கு/மிழிப் படுத்/து … கற்கா/ல் நாட்டு/வித்தார் ஸ்ரீ/பொரி ம/யன் தா/ழிப் பே/ரையனே/ன் ஸ்ரீ பொ/ரிமயன்/இடமரி/யைச் சாத்/திச் செய்/தது ஸ்ரீ.
