There are three sluices in the tank of which the centre sluice called naḍumadai installed in the central part of the tank close to the bund hand an inscription. The tank belongs to the Peruñjuṉaiyūr village. This sluice written in Tamil script and Tamil language was installed by Jaṉmataṭṭāṉ alias Peruñjuṉaiyūr-taṭṭāṉ belongs to Ponnakaram of Northern part of Kōṉāḍu, a territorial division. It belongs to 10th century CE on palaeographical ground. Inscription : [inta]/k kunuḻik/kāl nāṭṭi/nēn innāṭṭu/vaṭavakait ta/ṭṭān janmat ta/ṭṭān ponnaka/rattān cuntanāta/peruñjuṉaiyūr/t taṭṭanēn. இக்குளத்தில் மூன்று குமிழிகள் உள்ளன. அவற்றில் குளத்தின் மையப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள நடுமடை என்றழைக்கப்படுகின்ற குமிழி குளத்தின் கரைக்கு அருகாமையில் உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் பெருஞ்சுனையூர் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை கோனாட்டு வடவகை பொன்னகரை சார்ந்த ஜன்மதட்டான் என்றழக்கப்படுகின்ற பெருனஞ்சுனையூர் தட்டான் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இது கி.பி.10ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு : [இந்த]/க் குமுழிக்/கால் நாட்டி/நேந் இந்நாட்டு/வடவகைத் த/ட்டாந் ஜந்மத் த்/ட்டாந் பொந்நக/ரத்தாந் சுந்தநாத/பெருஞ்சுனையூர்/த் தட்டநேந்.
