Oliyamangalam

This inscription is found on the pillar of the sluice of the tank called Periyakaṇmāi located in the Oliyamangalam village. This sluice inscription refers to the erection of the sluice by Gaṅgar Chōḻakula Nārāyaṇa Mūvēnta Vēḷāṉ during the 4th regnal of Rājēndra Chōḻa-III corresponding to 1250 CE. Inscription: svaṭṭi srī naḍaiyā/ r tanic ceṅkōl vīra/ chōḻaṟki yāṇṭu nālā/ ṇṭil kuḍaiyār va/ ṇkai oḷḷaiyūr ku/ kuḷattuk kumiḻi kuyiṟṟu/ kututtōṉ toḍaiyār(k)/ ṅkar chōḻakula nārāya/ ṇa mūvēnta vēḷ ā/ ṭaiyār cēyamiḍaikkuti ma/ ntu nilavum kēsava/ nēyi…. ஒலியமங்கலம் பெரியக் கண்மாயின் பெரிய மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் ஒலியமங்கலம் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை கங்கர் சோழகுல நாராயண மூவேந்த வேளான் அமைத்ததாக கூறுகிறது. இதன் காலம் பொ.ஆ.1250 . கல்வெட்டு: ஸ்வத்தி ஸ்ரீ நடையா/ ர் தநிச் செங்கோல் வீர/ சோழற்கி யாண்டு நாலா/ ண்டில் குடையார் வ/ ண்கை ஒல்லையூர் கு/ குளத்துக் குமிழி குயிற்று/ குடுத்தோன் தொடையார்(க்) / ங்கர் சோழகுல நாராய/ ண மூவேந்த வேள் ஆ/ டையார் சீயமிடைக்குடி ம/ ந்து நிலவும் கேசவ/ நேய்….
