Matiyanallur-1

The inscription is found engraved on the western pillar of sluice erected close to the bund in eastern part of the Periyakuḷam. This sluice is belongs to the Matiyanallūr village. The inscription refers to the erection of this sluice by Cāttaṉ Māṟaṉ. On the palaeographical ground, it belongs to 9th century CE. Inscription: Svasti srī cāt/taṉ māŗaṉ/ ceyvitta/ kumiḻi. மதியநல்லூர் பெரிய குளத்து மேலை மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குளத்தின் கிழக்குப்பகுதியில் அமைந்துள்ள பெரிய மடை என்று அழைக்கப்படுகின்ற குமிழி குளத்தின் கரையை ஒட்டியே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் மதியநல்லூர் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை சாத்தன் மாறன் என்பவன் அமைத்ததாகக் கூறுகிறது. எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இது கி.பி.9ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு: ஸ்வஸ்தி ஸ்ரீ சாத்/ தன் மாறன்/ செய்வித்த/ குமிழி.
