Maruthampatti

The inscription is found on the sluice pillar of the tank located in Maruthampaṭṭii village. The sluice was erected by Nakka Kēraḷan of Koḍumbālūr. On palaeographical ground, it could be dated to 12th century CE. Inscription: im maruthaṅkuḍi/ k kumuḻi [e]ḍuppi/ ttāṉ [ko]ḍumpā/ lūr nakka kēraḷan/ avaiyum puk/ kān [nakkan kēraḷan] …. மருதம்பட்டி கண்மாயின் மடைத்தூணில் காணப்படும் இக்கல்வெட்டு கொடும்பாளூரைச் சார்ந்த நக்க கேரளன் எடுப்பித்ததாக கூறுகிறது. கல்வெட்டு: இம் மருதங்குடி/ க் குமுழி [எ]டுப்பி/ த்தாந்/ [கொ]டும்பா/ லூர் நக்க கேரளன்/ அவையும் புக்/ கான் [னக்கந் கேரளந்]….
