Kottur-1

This inscription is found on the pillar of the sluice of the tank called Periyakuḷam located in the Kōṭṭūr village. This sluice inscription refers to the erection of the sluice by Irumuḍi Chōḻa Siṅgaḷānti Muttaraiyaṉ alias Taraṅgama Pōḷaṟaṉ during the 2nd regnal year of Sundarachōḻaṉ corresponding to the year 958 CE. Inscription: svasti srī/ kōirāca kē/ cari paṉmaṟku yā/ ṇtu 2 ivā/ ṇtu kāṉa / nāṭṭu kōṭṭi/ ūr kuḷam kaṟku/ miḻi vaiccu ka/ ṟkāl nāṭṭinā/ ivvūr iru/ maṭi chōḻa ci/ ṅkaḷānti mu/ ttaraiyanā/ ṉa taraṅkama/ pōlaṟaṉ. கோட்டூர் பெரியக் குளத்தின் மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குமிழி குளத்தின் உள்ளே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் கோட்டூர் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியை இருமடிசோழ சிங்களாந்தி முத்தரையன் [எ] தரங்கம போளறன் அமைத்ததாக கூறுகிறது. இது பொ.ஆ. 958 சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு ஸ்வஸ்தி ஸ்ரீ/ கோஇராச கே/ சரி பன்மற்கு யா/ ண்டு 2 இவா/ ண்டு கான/ நாட்டு கோட்டி/ ஊர் குளம் கற்கு/ மிழி வைச்சு க/ ற் கால் நாட்டினா/ இவ்வூர் இரு / மடி சோழ சி/ ங்களாந்தி மு/ த்தரையனா/ ன தரங்கம/ போளறன்.
