Annavasal-2

This inscription is found on the pillar of the sluice of the tank located in the Aṉṉavāsal village. This sluice inscription refers to the erection of the sluice by one Pakaṭṭuvār Kaṇḍaṉ. On the palaeographical ground, it could be dated to 12-13th century CE. Inscription: pakaṭ/ ṭuvā/ r kaṇ/ ṭaṉ. அன்னவாசல் பெரியக் கண்மாயின் பழைய மடைத்தூணில் இக்கல்வெட்டு உள்ளது. குமிழி குளத்தின் உள்ளே உள்ளது. இந்த குளம் அன்னவாசல் கிராமத்தை சார்ந்தது. இக்குமுழியில் பகட்டுவார் கண்டன் அமைத்ததாக கூறுகிறது. எழுத்தமைதியின் அடிப்படையில் இது கி.பி.12-13ஆம் நூற்றாண்டை சார்ந்ததாகும். கல்வெட்டு: பகட்/ டுவா/ ர் கண்/ டன்.
