Babad Diponegoro (Buku Kêdhun Kêbo Tanah Bagelen)

This is a transcription of the section on the Java War from the official chronicle of Bagelen (1842-1843)--which was written under the patronage of governor Cakranegoro I (in office 1830-1862)--as well as the near identical Serat Babad Diponegoro which has also been digitised in this Endanged Archives Programme. This transcription was made in Yogyakarta in 1933 by the renowned Dutch scholar of Javanese manuscripts Theodoor Gautier Thomas Pigeaud (1899-1988). It was later copied by Prof. Sartono Kartadirja in or before 1972 and recopied by K.R.T. Puspaningrat in October 1972 for the Leiden University, the historian Peter Carey and himself. This personal copy of Prof. Carey contains additional annotations and manually added diacritics. The text gives an overview of the Java War and also provides an index of person and place names.
