This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. The period of this manuscript is unknown but it is estimated to be from the period between 1901- 1950. This palm-leaf manuscript primarily consists of the texts of akaval, which refers to the renditions of invocations of gods and godesses namely vayiravaṉ vīrapattiraṉ periyatampirāṉ ammaṉ. All of these deities are of deep significance within localised practices of worship. The akaval form is a key part of this ritual practice.
