This palm-leaf manuscript titled Periyatampirāṉ kāviyam is from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This epic text was writen by Vīrakkuṭṭi Mūttavaṉ of Tāḻaṅkuṭā on December 15th 1916, the first day of the Tamil month of mārkaḻi the periyatampirāṉ kāviyam was written. On 25th October 1926, the 9th day of the tamil month of aippaci cilampukkūṟal kāviyam was written. The 82 pages that remain of the manuscript consist of the umai civaṉ tirumaṇa varalāṟu or the the story of the wedding of lord Shiva and Parvati, civaṉukketirāka taccaṉ yākam ceyta varalāṟu or the penance of the carpenter against Shiva, periyatampirāṉ uruvākiya varalāṟu or the origin story of the deity periyatampirāṉ, cevvāyp pāṭal or the song of the astrological planet of Mars, cilampu kūṟal pāṭal or the song of the anklet, māriyammaṉ kāviyam or the legend of the goddess māriyammaṉ and nilā cōtiyaṉ pāṭal or the song of the astrology based on the moon.
