This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. A major part of this manuscript is damaged and deteriorated rendering the text illegible, thus it is difficult to determine the exact age, author and place of the original manuscript. However, it is estimated to be from 1850-1899. ‘Periya vaḷḷiyam'maṉ am'māṇai’ is about songs that describes the marriage of Lord Muruga with Valli. It contains Kaṭavuḷ vāḻttu, kaṇapati, murukaṉ, carasvati, kuru vāḻttu. The author presents the songs with great self-possession. For example, He recites verses such as " kāṉa mayilāṭa kaṇṭu vanta vāṉkōḻi tāṉumāṭa” saying that he copied this line from another manuscript. This manuscript contains only 302 pages.
