This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled “Piḷḷaiyār katai” from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. As some front pages are missing in this manuscript thus it is difficult to determine the exact age, author of the original manuscript. However, it is estimated to be from 1801 -1899. It contains the birth details of Pillaiyar, Piḷḷaiyār tutikaḷ, virataṅkaḷ in poetic form. It also describes the story of Kajamukaṉ, The history when Tharmarasan and his brothers asked Makāviṣṉu about the regulations to follow Pillaiyar virataṅkaḷ Story of Avaṉayāṉai, Story of the birth of Sooran and the complaint of Teyvantiraṉ and other Devas, Story of the birth of Shanmukha in saravana pond Story of Matrikas (Seven capta kaṉṉikaḷ) who followed fasting for Ganesha This manuscript is recited during Vināyakar Shasti viratam in Pilliyar temples and other temples. It contains 80 pages and the letters are clear to read. The protective cover is made up of palmyrah. The manuscript is damaged and deteriorated. Several pages are missing from this manuscript.
