དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Written in "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script. No title page སེར་ར་ཁ་བཅིངས། Ceremony to protect against hailstones and to protect against crops freezing.

Extent: One loosely bound book consisting of fourteen folios. Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 30 cm x 8.5 cm, opening up to 60 cm x 8.5 cm.Condition of original material: Darkened through usage throughout. Final page damaged.Custodial history: The older material has been handed down from father to son for at least four generations.Arrangement: All the material is stored in the prayer room (not seen) and was brought out to be measured and digitised. It is kept in boxes when travelling. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date
