A handwritten Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. Written in both "headless" Tibetan dbu med (Ume) script and in "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. A divination text. Perhaps a section of a tsipa (astrologer) text describing how to recognise / calculate good and bad, auspicious and inauspicious, dates for planned events. འདི་ནས་མར་ལ་སྐར་མའི་རྩིས་ནི་བཞུགས་སོ། སྐར་མའི་རྩིས། means astrological divination.
Extent: One book consisting of nine folios.
Size and dimensions of original material: Each folio is 42 cm x 10 cm folding to 21 cm x 10 cm.
Condition of original material: Darkened through age and usage, some staining.
Arrangement: Loose texts kept in the prayer room in a cardboard box. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
