དཔེ་ཆ

A handwritten unbound Tibetan text (pecha) on handmade paper. An untitled text in "headed" Tibetan dbu chen (Uchen) script. A single sheet of folded paper. Writing on one side only. A short prayer, an offering to the yaksha (Tib གནོད་སྦྱིན་ Wylie gnod sbyin) Potentially very harmful spirits and demons who are also potentially helpful bestowers of wealth. The yaksha are demons of the earth, air and lower heavens who are malignant, violent, and devourers of human flesh, but also attendants to the god of wealth.

Extent: A text consisting of a single sheet of paper.

Size and dimensions of original material: 31cm x 22 cm.

Condition of original material: Paper damage. Part of a larger sheet?.

Arrangement: Loose texts kept in the prayer room in a cardboard box. The precise country of origin is unknown. However it is almost certain that the original text was created in Tibet, though the specific material in question may have been copied locally in Spiti (India) at a later date.
