ཐོ་མོ་ཆེ / མཐོ་མོ་ཆེ

A painted wooden staff used by the nyahon, the head of the group of wedding singers. The staff is an important element in the performance of the stone songs, an elaborate and competitive ceremony undertaken during large Spiti weddings.

Extent: One wooden staff.

Size and dimensions of original material: 116 x 6 x 6 cm (max).

Condition of original material: Good condition for its age.

Arrangement: Material kept in the household prayer room (not seen).
